Keith J. Stevens presents seminar before American Council of Engineering Companies of New York, entitled “Life Safety Considerations for Today’s Design Professional”

10.25.19

On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, Keith J. Stevens presented a seminar to member engineers of the ACEC New York Long Island Region at Westbury Manor.

ACEC New York is a proactive coalition representing nearly 300 member firms who engage in every discipline of engineering related to the built environment including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and geotechnical.

The presentation encompassed how to efficiently assess the specific dangers which are imposed upon the public by design and construction projects before such dangers occur.

Mr. Stevens addressed how today’s society can be scary for design professionals who are vulnerable to claims for personal injuries, property damage and everything in between.  While not all potential pitfalls can be avoided, this session provided attendees with the tools required to reduce the likelihood of endangering the public.  Through the discussion of case studies, hypotheticals and the law, design professionals who attended this session should now be able to confidently navigate the day to day nuances of their craft knowing they are taking a proactive approach towards safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of the public, and consequently limiting their own exposure.
