Ms. Barcham heads the firm’s Business Planning and Transactions Practice Group and concentrates her practice in the areas of corporate, tax and business law and counsels business owners on a wide variety of corporate and tax matters, including business succession planning and asset protection planning.
Her corporate and business experience includes business sales and acquisitions, corporate recapitalizations, mergers and dissolutions, executive compensation agreements, shareholder, operating and partnership agreements, stock redemptions, formation of limited liability companies, corporations and partnerships, partnership and LLC "freezes" and sales to intentionally defective grantor trusts.
Ms. Barcham is a frequent lecturer at the Nassau County Bar Association and at other venues on a wide variety of business and estate topics.
Ms. Barcham also heads the firm’s Trusts and Estates Practice Group and has many years of experience in estate and tax planning and estate and trust administration.
Her practice includes all aspects of estate and trust administration, including the representation of estate beneficiaries, estate and trust accounting proceedings, will contests, preparation of federal and state estate tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns, and other contested estate matters.
She works with her clients in the development and implementation of complex estate plans including GRATs, QPRTs, family limited partnerships, private annuities, charitable foundations and generation skipping and life insurance trusts.
Ms. Barcham received her Juris Doctorate from the Washington College of Law at American University in 1975 and an LLM in Taxation from New York University in 1982.
Ms. Barcham is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, the District of Columbia and Maryland.
She is also admitted to practice law in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
She is the former Dean of the Nassau Academy of Law, a former Director of the Nassau County Bar Association, former Chair of the Tax Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association and is the current and past Focus Editor for the Trust and Estates issue of the Nassau Lawyer. She is currently a delegate for the Nassau County Bar Association to the New York State Bar Association.
In addition, Ms. Barcham is an active member of the Surrogate’s Court Trusts and Estates Committee and the Tax Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association and is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Ms. Barcham is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Nassau Academy of Law and the Long Island Advisory Council of the American Heart Association.
