Partner Douglas R. Halstrom presented his PDH accredited seminar entitled, “Engineering Ethics in New York”, at the request of The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York. Attorney Halstrom’s seminar was given as part of the ACEC NY 2025 Winter Conference professional programming, held at the Albany Capital Center. This year’s conference theme: "Securing New York’s Future: Engineering Solutions for Tomorrow’s Challenges".

ACEC New York's Annual Winter Conference has become the premier business event of their educational and networking calendar. Over 500 engineering professionals, exhibitors, and state agency representatives travel to downtown Albany each year to participate in this unique mega-conference.

Attorney Halstrom’s seminar took place on Sunday evening, February 2nd, and was quite well attended. His course, “Engineering Ethics in New York”, focused on important aspects of professional engineering practice where ethical rules must be followed. Covered subject matter included NYS governmental entities responsible for addressing ethical complaints, ethical issues faced by engineers; practicing without a license, use of one’s seal, and conflicts of interest, plus, related issues through the discussion of case studies, as published by the National Society of Professional Engineers. Attorney Halstrom also addressed how the New York State Office of Professional Discipline handles professional complaints, and engineers’ rights and obligations attendant thereto.
