In May of 2016, NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) published the article "Opening Statements In Mediation - Don't Pass Up The Opportunity" by L'Abbate Balkan partner, Richard P. Byrne.
The article addresses the opportunity of a concise and impactful opening statement which allows one to convey intangibles directly to the opposing client representative. It can communicate preparedness and conviction, tempered by a willingness to maintain an open mind and to seek common ground.
